"Debonair" and "If I Were Going" Tab
Debonair and If I Were Going
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
verse part of "Debonair" and "If I Were Going"
chord: 2nd fret on 4th string (E)
4th fret on 3rd string (B)
play this chord and add 5th fret on 3rd string (C)
(listen to the CD while playing to get the right rhythm)
A simple way to do the intro to "Debonair" is barring the first 3 strings at
the 12th fret, and adding the 14th fret on the 4th string and playing a funk
rhythm.
I play the other chord part by using a movable F chord which goes: 7th
fret-8th fret-3rd fret- C chord (regular position) and then part of an A
(these last two chords I'm not sure about)

basically, the song is on the Em scale
starts with :
e---5--x--5--5--5---....................
b---6--x--6--6--6---....................
g---7--x--7--7--7---....................
d---7--x--7--7--7---....................
a---5--x--5--5--5---....................
e-------------------....................
and then :
e--2-2--3---3-3--1-1--.....
b--4-4--5---3-3--1-1--.....
g--4-4--5---4-4--2-2--.....
d--4-4--5---5-5--3-3--.....
a--2-2--3---5-5--3-3--.....
e-----------3-3--1-0--.....
something like that......
"and it don't bleed..." goes like in the beginning in different tempo,
but it's still Em.

Debonair;
It isn`t all that difficult, but this style of playing might be new
to you. You will have difficulties playing it on an accoustic guitar, `cause
there is a lot of stuff high up on the neck.
These are the main parts:
o=open x=muted
opening/ low x goes into x x
"`cause.." 10 Figure out the 10 10
9 beat yourself 9 9 and so forth..
11 It`s really tricky! 11/12 12

I have NOT even tried to hint at the rythm. It`very funky and tight.
Also excuse me if I have gotten anything wrong, this is from memory only, I
don`t have my guitar with me.

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official AFGHAN WHIGS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
