Aaron's work is close with only a few errors in his translation. I =
remember Eric Burden of The Animals performing this song rather than Bob =
Dylan. So when I saw it listed on the site I wanted to add some =
additional details to this translation to help clean it up.
This voicing should omit the e (6th) as part of the pattern.
Am ^ v v v ^ ^
E ------------------------
A -----0------------------
D --------2------------2--
G -----------2------1-----
B --------------1---------
e -----------------------
If you have listed to The Animals play this song, you'll hear an organ =
in the background. The chords are the same as the guitar. The only =
difference is the organist arpeggiates the chords during the verses and =
plays the chords as a whole during the chorus. It is a pretty simple =
pattern that is easy to pick up when you listen closely to the song. If =
you want to add a unique style to this song, have an additional rhythym =
guitarist join in with a 12 string tuned to E and continue throughout =
the song.
It also helps to use an alternate picking pattern to help establish a =
flow
for the voicings of each chord. I have added these using the carat and =
lowercase v. The rest of Aaron's work is correct except for the finish.=20
It alternates the Am with the E.=20
Here are the chords
Intro - Am C D F Am E Am E
Am C D F
There is a house..........
Am C E E
They call it the............
Am C D F
And its been the ruin..............
Am E Am C D F Am E Am E
And God, I know, I'm ..........
Thats about all there is to it. Those chords are played in the same =
order for=20
every verse and the solo as well. I think the ending is Am and F =
repeated a=20
few times.
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official ANIMALS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
