Guess I'm Doing Fine
Beck Hansen
Album: Sea Change
Posted by: Mike Felder
This is an incredible song. I can't quite figure out a few chords, but hopefully this can get you all started!
Verse 1:
E A E
There's a bluebird at my window
E A E
I can't hear the songs he sings
E A E
All the jewels in heaven
E A F#m
They don't look the same to me
A G#m E
I just wade the tides that turn
G#m E
'Til I learn to leave the past behind
Chorus:
G#m A E
It's only lies that I'm livin'
G#m A E
It's only tears that I'm Cryin'
G#m A E D
It's only you that I'm losin'
F#m E F#m A
I guess I'm doin fine
2nd Verse: Same chord progression
All the battlements are empty
And the moon in laying low
Yellow roses in the graveyard
I got no time to let them grow
Now I bade a friend farewell
I can do what ever pleases me
Chorus: Same chord progression
It's only lies that I'm livin'
It's only tears that I'm cryin'
It's only you that I'm losin'
I guess I'm doin fine
3rd Verse:
F#m A E
I press my face up to the window
F#m A E
To see how warm it is inside
F#m A E
I see the things that I've been missing
F#m E
Missing all the time
Chorus:
It's only lies that I'm livin'
It's only tears that I'm cryin'
It's only you that I'm losin'
I guess I'm doin fine
I guess I'm doin fine
End
Notes: I know that I either am missing a chord or have the wrong progression on the verse where he sings "I just wade the tides that turn... 'Til I leave the past behind" I can't quite figure it out (I just got the CD today). Also, I think there is another chord at the end of the chorus when he sings "I guess I'm doin fine" Between the F#m and the A there is something, but you can fake it and it sounds alright. I am working on the intro and will post it when I figure it out.
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official BECK tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
