"Untogether"
By: Belly
From: Star
Written By: Tanya Donnelly
Song is 5 open chords, but she plays them strangely. Chords are A, E, D, G, and
B min played like this:
e -----0------X--------X-------3------0
B -----2------3--------3-------0------0
G -----2------2--------0-------3------1
D -----2------0--------0-------2------2
A -----0------X--------2-------3------2
E -----0------X--------3-------X------0
A D G Bmin E
(only E and A are played normally. She basically mutes the high E string)
These chords are played like this with the lyrics, I think, Double check with
the album for acuracy.
[intro strum A]
E D G A
I was friendly with this girl who insisted on touching my face
E D
She told out-rageous stories; I believed them
Bmin A
til the endings were changing from endings before
E D G
She's not touching me anymore...
A E D G
Untogether. I couldn't help it, it got hard.
A E D
You can try your whole life, but you can't change the unchangeably
G A
Untogether.
I got shipwrecked with this frog who was constantly testing my faith.
He made outrageous demands, I ignored him,
til I strapped on my bird feet and surfed into shore
He's not touching me anymore.
Untogether, I couldn't help it it got hard.
You can try your whole life,
but you can't save the unsaveably untogether
Now this bird nests on my back, keeps me twisting and turning to see.
We threw out-rageous parties, we were golden.
Now the bird keeps her distance, and I keep my spleen.
Sometimes there's no poison like a dream.
Untogether, I couldn't help it, it got hard.
You can try your whole life,
but you can't hold the impossibly untogether!

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official BELLY tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
