ERASE/REWIND
The Cardigans
from the album “Gran Turismo” (1998)
transcribed by Steve Garner (s_garner@hotmail.com)
IMPORTANT!! READ THIS FIRST!!
There are a few tabs for this song already in existence, but
unfortunately most of them are inaccurate. I’ve noticed that several of them
make the mistake of tabbing out what is actually a keyboard, which is played
in a higher octave than the guitar part. The guitar plays basically the same
riffs but in a lower octave, which, combined with the keyboard, gives the
song its overall sound. I’ve worked out what I believe to be the most
complete and accurate tab for this song that exists to date. I’ve
incorporated both the guitar and keyboard parts for those of you who want to
try playing it using two guitars.
The lines of tab for “Guitar I” are the normal guitar parts, played on an
acoustic. The tab for “Guitar II” is a guitar arrangement of what the
keyboard plays - notice how during the main riff it is basically doubling
the guitar riff but at a higher octave. And finally, the chords listed below
each line of tab represent the overall tonality of the song created by the
synthesizer in the background.

** GUITAR II = Keyboard arranged for guitar **

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official CARDIGANS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
