Weirdo
====-The Charlatans
This was one of my least favourite Charlatans songs until I saw them
live and this one really blew me away and I had to learn it. I've tried
to transcribe all guitar and organ parts for guitar and I'll give you
the chords as well, just in case.
Intro
Hammond riff:
F#m7 F#m6 F#m b6(?) F#m F#m6
E|----------2--|----------2--|----------2--|----------2--2--|
B|----------5--|----------4--|----------3--|----------2--4--|
G|----------2--|----------2--|----------2--|----------2--2--|
D|----------4--|----------4--|----------4--|----------4--4--|
A|-------------|-------------|-------------|----------------|
E|--2-2-2-2----|--2-2-2-2----|--2-2-2-2----|--2-2-2-2-------|
Play this twice, then twice again but with the following guitar overdub
(bang a bit of reverse reverb on it if you can)
F#m7 F#m6 F#m b6 F#m F#m6
E|----|----|-----|----------------|
B|--5-|--4-|--3--|-2h3p2h3-2h3h4--|
G|----|----|-----|----------------|
D|----|----|-----|----------------|
A|----|----|-----|----------------|
E|----|----|-----|----------------|
Now the organ riff changes, play this once:
F#m Gm F#m Em
E|----------------------------|----------------------------|
B|----------------------------|----------------------------|
G|--2-2---2-2---2-2---2-2--3--|--2-2---2-2---2-2---2-2--O--|
D|--2-4---2-4---2-4---2-4--5--|--2-4---2-4---2-4---2-4--2--|
A|--2-4---2-4---2-4---2-4--5--|--2-4---2-4---2-4---2-4--2--|
E|--2-2---2-2---2-2---2-2--3--|--2-2---2-2---2-2---2-2--O--|
Keep this last riff going through the first verse:
F#m Gm
Most of the time you are happy,
F#m Em
You're a weirdo.
F#m Gm
And before the introduction ends
F#m Em
There's someone feeling sorry for their selves.
Chorus
(Here's where you stomp on your tremolo pedal- Hit each chord once
and hold)
Dm
Look at your ugly shame,
G
What are you talking for?
Dm G
Look at your ugly shame.
It's back to the original organ riff for the second verse:
F#m7 F#m6
Most of the time you're demanding,
Fm# b6 F#m F#m6
What am I doing here, and I don't want to be.
F#m7 F#m6
And the hurt in which you bare
Fm# b6 F#m F#m6
You could say goodbye to this earth.
Chorus
Dm
Look at your ugly shame,
G
What are you talking for?
Dm
Look at your ugly shame.
G
There's too much for me to know about.
Instrumental
After a bar of percussion there's a bass solo. It's something vaguley
like this:
G|------------------------|
D|--4-4---4---4---4--2-2--|
A|------4---4---4---------| x3
E|------------------------|
Guitar Solo
E|----------|----2-----|--2-2--------------|
B|-------5--|--5----2--|--2-2--2-----------|
G|----2-----|----------|-------2------2----|
D|--2-------|----------|---------2-4----4--|
A|----------|----------|-------------------|
E|----------|----------|-------------------|
Now with the 1st organ riff underneath:
F#m7 F#m6 F#m b6
E|------7------7---5---|------7------7---5---|--7--9--7--9-7-----|
B|--5h7----5h7---7---7-|--5h7----5h7---7---7-|---------------10--|
G|---------------------|---------------------|-------------------|
D|---------------------|---------------------|-------------------|
A|---------------------|---------------------|-------------------|
E|---------------------|---------------------|-------------------|
F#m
E|------7------7-----|----2\---|
B|--5h7----5h7-------|----2\---|
G|-------------------|----2\---|
D|-------------------|---------|
A|-------------------|-4-------|
E|-------------------|-2-------|
There's a half-bar of weird Delay-feedback effects- you could just
scrape your plectrum up and down the strings.
Verse 3
F#m7 F#m6
Most of the time you are happy,
Fm# b6 F#m F#m6
You're a weirdo.
F#m7 F#m6
And your nerve is my device,
Fm# b6 F#m F#m6
And it makes me sad.
Chorus
Dm
Look at your ugly shame,
G
What are you talking for?
Dm
Look at your ugly shame.
G
There's too much for me to know about.
Two bars of drums then another bass solo:
G|-------------------|
D|-------------------|
A|----O-O-2--O-2-4-2-| x4
E|--2----------------|
Repeat Hammond Organ Riff 1, twice. Then it's:
Dm C
E|-----------------------------|
B|--6-6-X-6-6-X-6-6-X-5-5-5-5--|
G|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--|
D|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--| x2
A|--5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-5-5--|
E|-----------------------------|
Now it's the outro solo played on some kind of organ-slash-synth. It's
probabaly a bit sloppy but it'll give you an idea. It's played over the
first organ riff again.
F#m7 F#m6 F#m b6 F#m
E|--------------------|--------------------|------------------------|
B|--------------------|--------------------|------------------------|
G|--------------------|--------------------|------------------------|
D|--------------------|--------------------|------7------------7----|
A|--7h9p7h9p7h9p7/12--|--7h9p7h9p7h9p7/12--|--7-9---9-7-9-7-9----9--|
E|--------------------|--------------------|------------------------|
F#m7 F#m6 F#m b6 F#m
E|-----------------------|---------------|---------------|--------|
B|-----------------------|---------------|---------------|--------|
G|-----------------------|---------------|---------------|--------|
D|----------------7---7--|--9-7-------7--|--9-11-9-7---7-|---7----|
A|--7-9--7-9--7-9---9----|------9-7-9----|-----------9---|-9---9--|
E|-----------------------|---------------|---------------|--------|
Dm C Dm C Dm
E|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|-5-|
B|--6-6-X-6-6-X-6-6-X-5-5-5-5--|--6-6-X-6-6-X-6-6-X-5-5-5-5--|-6-|
G|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--|-7-|
D|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--|--7-7-X-7-7-X-7-7-X-5-5-5-5--|-7-|
A|--5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-5-5--|--5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-X-5-5-5-5--|-5-|

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official CHARLATANS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
