DIRE STRAITS
Once Upon A Time In The West
from the Album "Communiqué"

I was surprised to find no one had sent this tab in before. It's one of
Dire Straits' best songs I think, and lovely to play, as well as a good
chord training. It's got an absolutely weird time feel (which IMO makes
it interesting) using 3/4 and 4/4 mixed, I'm trying to indicate this
but anyway I think it'll be no problem when you listen to the recording.
Hope you like it, and please tell me if you find something I missed!

The intro is played by guitar only, then the verse goes like this:
4/4 3/4 4/4 3/4

repeat the verse twice (very small variations) then into the bridge:
4/4 4/4 6/4
G|----------------|----------------|-----------------|-
D|----------------|33--33--33--33--|-----------------|-
A|55--55--55--55-3|---3---3---3----|-----------------|-
E|---5---5---5----|---------------3|55-133-01-----030|-
once again play the verse plus the bridge, then the verse again
and at end fade the whole thing out for nearly two minutes playing
the last two bars of the verse.
Have fun!
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official DIRE STRAITS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
