"Empty chairs" from the album "American Pie"
by Don McLean
I bought this Cd mainly for the song "American pie", but when I sat
down and listened to some of the tunes on this album I was amazed.
"Vincent" and "Empty chairs" are definatly among the better tunes
on the album.
Listen to the album, otherwise this TAB is useless. There may be
some mistakes, but none of any significance. Tell me what you think...
The lyrics follow after the TAB...
Have fun!
Note: The 1st, 2nd and 3rd chorus and verse are not identical.

Empty chairs
1.verse I feel the trembling tingle of a sleepless night
Creep through my fingers and the moon is bright
Beams of blue come flickering through my windowpane
Like gypsy moths that dance around a candle flame
Chorus And I wonder if you know
That I never I understood
That although you said you'd go
Until you did - I never thought you would
2.verse Moonlight used to bathe the contours of your face
While chestnut hair fell all around the pillowcase
And the fragrance of your flowers rest beneath my head
A sympathy bouquet left with the love that's dead
Chorus
Bridge Never thought the words you said were true
Never thought you said just what you meant
Never knew how much I needed you
Never thought you'd leave - until you went
3.verse Morning comes and morning goes with no regret
And evening brings the memories I can't forget
Empty rooms that echo as I climb the stairs
And empty clothes that drape and fall on empty chairs
Chorus

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP, representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are "hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the official DON MCLEAN tablature which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route. These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the NY Times Article. We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
