Hank Williams he came up from Montgomery,
E F#m
With a heart full of hurtin' country songs.
F#m D
But Nashville, Tennessee, didn't really understand him.
E F#m
'Cause he did things differently than the way that they were done.
F#m D
But when he finally made it to the Grand Old Opry, he made it stand still.
E F#m
He ended up on alcohol and pills.
Elvis Presley, he came up from Jackson,
With a brand new way of singing, Lord, and a brand new way of dancing.
And even from the waist up, Lord, he gave the world a thrill.
He ended up on alcohol and pills.
A E
Alcohol and pills, it's a crying shame.
Bm D F#m
You'd think they might've been happy with the glory and the fame.
A E
But fame doesn't take away the pain, it just pays the bills.
Bm D F#m
And you wind up on alcohol and pills.
Janis Joplin, she was wild and reckless,
And then there was Gram Parsons, Lord, and then there was Jimi Hendrix.
The story just goes on and on, and I guess it always will.
They ended up on alcohol and pills.
Sometimes somebody just doesn't wake up one day.
Sometimes it's a heart attack, sometimes they just don't say.
But they pulled poor old Hank Williams out of a Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
He ended up on alcohol and pills.

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official FRED EAGLESMITH tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
