Subject: Home by the sea
Song: HOME BY THE SEA
Band : Genesis
Transcripted by Rapha‘l Chaize, student in Nice, France
This song was originally transcripted by Chris King (cbk8702@hertz.njit.edu).
I submit here my
version with the guitar intro from the live version (TWWW vol II), added
bass in chords (after the "/"), correction of the bridge and the outro
and chords from a section which were ommited by Chris ("as we relived
out lives ..."). I made these correction because I play this song with
my rock band called "Blue Parsec".

[Em]Creeping up the blind side, sh[D6/E(*)]inning up the wall
[D6/E]stealing thru the dark of n[Em]ight
[Em]Climbing thru a window, st[D6/E]epping to the floor
[D6/E]checking to the left and the [Em]right
[Em]Picking up the pieces, p[D6/E]utting them away
[D6/E]something doesn't feel quite r[C]ight [Am]
(*) Actually the guitar plays a pure D, but the synth plays a Bm. So it
becomes a D6 or a Bm7, as you like.
[Em]Help me someone, let[C] me [Am]out of [Em]here
then o[C]ut of the [Am]dark was s[D]uddenly h[Bm]eard
[C]welcome to the [Am]Home by the [Em]Sea
Coming out the woodwork, thru the open door
pushing from above and below
shadows without substance, in the shape of men
round and down and sideways they go
adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair
then as one they sign and they moan
Help us someone, let us out of here
living here so long undisturbed
dreaming of the time we were free
so many years ago
before the time when we first heard
welcome to the Home by the Sea
[Em] [G]Sit down [Bm]Sit d[D]own
[Em] [G]Sit down [Bm]Sit d[D]own
as [C]we relive out [G]lives in what we [D]tell you

Images of sorrow, pictures of delight
things that go to make up a life
endless days of summer longer nights of gloom
waiting for the morning light
scenes of unimportance like photos in a frame
things that go to make up a life
Help us someone, let us out of here
living here so long undisturbed
dreaming of the time we were free
so many years ago
before the time when we first heard
welcome to the Home by the Sea
[Em] [G]Sit down [Bm]Sit d[D]own
[Em] [G]Sit down [Bm]Sit d[D]own
as [C]we relive out [G]lives in what we [D]tell you
[C]Please let us relive out [G]lives in what we [D]tell you
[Em] [G]Sit down [Bm]Sit d[D]own
[Em]cos you won't get away
[G]so with us you will stay
[Bm]for the rest of your days. So s[D]it down
as [C]we relive out [G]lives in what we [D]tell you
[C]Please let us relive out [G]lives in what we [D]tell you

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official GENESIS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
