the tab provided here differs in the following respects:
1) the guitar is tuned up; (low E and A strings tuned up 1/2 step

from: the CD 'Pieces of You', track 4.

guitar. vocal.
======== =================================================================
[intro.]
[v.line] You took your coat off and stood in the rain,
You were always crazy like that
[v.line] I watched from my window,
Always felt I was outside looking in on you
[v.line] You were always the mysterious one with dark eyes and careless
hair... You were fashionably sensitive, but too cool to care.
[v.line] You stood in my doorway, with nothing to say...
besides some comment on the weather
[v.line] Well in case you failed to notice; in case you failed to see..
This is my heart bleeding before you; this is me down on my knees
[c.line] These foolish games are tearing me apart
[c.line] Your thoughtless words are breaking my heart
You're breaking my heart
[intro.]
[v.line] You were always brilliant in the morning
Smoking your cigarettes, talking over coffee...
[v.line] Your philosophies on art, Baroque moved you, You loved Mozart
you'd speak of your loved ones As I clumsily strummed my guitar
[v.line] You'd teach me of honest things...
Things that were daring, things that were clean...
Things that knew what an honest dollar did mean
[v.line] So I hid my soiled hands behind my back,
Somewhere along the line I must've gone off track with you
[v.line] Excuse me, think I've mistaken you for somebody else
Somebody who gave a damn, Somebody more like myself
[c.line] These foolish games are tearing me apart
[c.line] Your thoughtless words are breaking my heart
You're breaking my heart
[intro.]
[Dm x 4]
[v.line] You took off your coat and stood in the rain
You were always like that
[repeat intro and fade...]

It's a fun one once you have it - vary the picking during
the verses and/or chorus to give more feel to things.
- Daydreamer (schneids@centuryinter.net)
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official JEWEL tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
