Subject: Roller Derby Queen, By Jim Croce
ROLLER DERBY QUEEN
Words and music by Jim Croce
<E7>Gonna tell you a story you won't believe
But <A7>I fell in love last Friday evening
With a <B7>girl I saw on a <A7>bar room TV <E7>screen
<E7>Well I was just gettin' ready to get my hat
When she <A7>caught my eye and I put it back
And <B7>ordered myself a <A7>couple o' more shots and <E7>beers
CHORUS:
The night that <G7>I fell in love with a <A7>roller derby <E7>queen
(Round and round, oh round and round)
<G7>Meanest hunk o' woman that <A7>anybody ever <B7>seen
Down in the arena
She was <E7>five-foot-six and two-fifteen
A <A7>bleached-blonde mama with a streak of mean
She <B7>knew how to knuckle
And she <A7>knew how to scuffle and <E7>fight
The roller derby program said
That she was <A7>built like a 'frigerator with a head
Her <B7>fans call her Tuffy
But <A7>all her buddies call her <E7>Spike
(CHORUS)
BRIDGE:
<E7>Round and round, go round and round
<A7>Round and round, go round and round
<B7> <A7> <E7>
Well I could not help but to fall in love
With this heavy-duty woman I've been speakin' of
Things were kind of bad until the day she skated into my life
Well she might be nasty, and she might be fat
But I never met a person who would tell her that
She's my big blonde bomber, my heavy-handed Hackensack mama
(CHORUS)
(BRIDGE)
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official JIM CROCE tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
