Intro
(1a) "Welcome to the real world", she said to me
condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
(1b) I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
and the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
is still hiding up my sleeve
(2) They love to tell you
stay inside the lines
(3) But something's better
on the other side
(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above
(1a) So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
faded white hats
grabbing credits
maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
(1b) All of our parents
they're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
while in their memories
tiny tragedies
(2) They love to tell you
stay inside the lines
(3) But something's better
on the other side
(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above
(5) I am invincible
I am invincible
I am invincible
as long as I'm alive (2)
(4) I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above
(4) I just can't wait till my ten year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
and when I stand on these tables before you
you will know what all this time was for
Ends on (079890)
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official JOHN MAYER tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
