Okay, I'm sure you have all listened to "that song from Great
Expectations" but it should be regarded as more than just that so
basically I've transcribed it to get people to know it and because no one
else seem to know how to play it since it's not the normal kind of song
you'd play on guitar - it hardly has any - but who cares? A great song
can be found anywhere and here goes one! :)
Verse 1
Em Am
The stranger sang a theme
B Em
From someone else's dream
Em E(1) E(2) Csus
And the leaves began to fall
D G
And no one spoke at all
C Am
But I can't seem to recall
B
When you came along
Chorus
Em Am D G
Ingenue
C Am
Ingenue
B
I just don't know what to do
Verse 2
Em Am
The tree lined avenue
B Em
Begins to fade from view
Em Em(1) Em(2) Csus
Drowning past regrets
D G
In tea and cigarettes
C Am
But I can't seem to forget
B
When you came along
Chorus
Em Am D G
Ingenue
C Am
Ingunue
B
I just don't know what to do.
Em(1) Em(2) Csus

Send comments, junk mail, threats or whatever to the email addy above. No
corrections though, i'm almost sure the song is okay in most parts. And
that's all, see Portishead files for more.
Chris.
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official MONO tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
