No Wheels To Ride - Mott The Hoople.
This starts off as a fairly slow, sad song and then livens up with the solo before quietening down again.
One of Mott The Hoople's songs from their early years with Island Records. The basic chords are fairly simple to get the hang off, although you can experiment with picking and messing around over them to get an effect nearer to that of the original song.
Intro:
This is just an A chord which kind of drones for a bit, then:
Verse:
G D/F#
No wheels to ride
G D
No wheels to travel
G D/F# Em A
No tracks to take on down
G D/F# G D
The road I walk is getting heavy
G D/F# Em A
But I must still go on
G D/F#
And in the night
G D
I hear the calling
G D/F# Em A
As the train goes by
G D/F# G D
Then all I hear is my footsteps falling
G D/F# Em A
Upon the tears I cry
Chorus: (Picking over the chords seems to work well)
D D/F# G A
If I could find a better way to get to you
D D/F# G A
You know that I would
D D/F# G
No money lines my pockets now
A D D/F# G A
But by the spring you know that it should
D D/F# G
Well I just cant wait to catch that Greyhound bus
A D D/F# G A
That will take me back right to your side
Post Chorus Bit:
D
Can't get enough
D/F#
Can't get enough
G
Can't get enough
A D D/F# G A
I can't get enough of your love
Solo:
D D/F# G A Repeat this sequence as necessary.
Then there's a fill in bit that goes like:
D G D
Verse:
G D/F# G D
So I'll go on making time
G D/F# Em A
'Til I can see a way
G D/F# G D
Maybe tomorrow I'll find a future
G D/F# Em A
Baby all I can say
Chorus:
D D/F# G A
If I can find a better way to get to you
D D/F# G A
You know that I will
D D/F# G
No money lines my pockets now
A D D/F# G A
But by the spring you know yes you know that it will
D D/F# G A D D/F# G A
And someday soon I'll see you there waiting at the station just for me
Post-Chorus Bit:
D
I just can't wait
D/F#
I just can't wait
G
I just can't wait
A
For you to get back
D D/F# G A Until end.
Good song methinks.....

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official MOTT THE HOOPLE tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
