Nine Inch Nails - The Day the World Went Away - from The Fragile (1998)
Guitar Tablature Transcribed by Undertow_45
Very simple song, don't ask me the FX for it cause I don't know
but there is probably a lot of distortion. Two or three guitars
one acoustic (for a better sound) and a bass. I am normally a bass
player but this song is too easy to transcribe just for bass. Enjoy.
Main Riff (2/3 Guitars) Repeat 4x
g |----6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-------------------------------4----|
d |----6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4----|
a |----4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-2----|
e |------------------------------------0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-2-2-2------|
Whiny Part (1 Guitar) Come in after Main Riff repeats Twice-Repeat 2x
g |----9--6--8--4--9--6--8--4--9--6--8--4--9--6--8--4|
Very simple. After that is done everything shuts up except for the
bass (and Keyboards) and plays the "Quiet Part."
Quiet Part (Bass) Repeat 4x
a |----4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2------------------------------2----|
e |------------------------------------0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-----|
Acoustic Guitar Part Come in after Quiet Part repeats Twice-Repeat 8x
g |----6-9-9-10-[10]-11-11----|
d |----6-9-9-10-[10]-11-11----|
a |----4-7-7-8---[8]--9--9----|
On occasion, don't play notes in the brackets, but if you've heard
the song you'll know what to do. And if your lazy, just play the A
line of notes. It does not matter.
Finally, there is the end. Basically, 1/2 guitars and the acoustic
play the Main Riff, while 1/2 guitars play the "Nah-Nah Part." The
Bass can play either part, it sounds fine both ways.
Nah-Nah Part (+Main Riff) Repeat 8x
d |---------9-8-99-8-------|
a |----9-7-----------11----|
The End.

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official NINE INCH NAILS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
