Cigarettes & Alcohol - Oasis
(Noel Gallagher)
Album : Defenitly Maybe
Tabbed by : Matthijs Ypenburg
Email : m_ypenburg@yahoo.com
Intro:
Riff 1a:
E5
e:-----------------------------
B:-----------------------------
G:----------------------------- => ~ means let ring
D:------------2-2--------------
A:--2-2-4-2-4-----4-2-2--------
E:--0~-------------------3-2-0-
After the 3-2-0, you can let that E-bas ringout instead of the E-bas in the beginning through the riff.
You can play the riff a little bit "diry", you don't have to make classic music, just mingle the strings,
it doesn't matter if you hit an extra string or anything, it just brings out the vibe!
Repeat that 2 times, and by the third time, don't play the 3-2-0, but then you go to F#:
Riff 1b:
F# A5
e:------0-------------
B:--------0-----------
G:----------2-2-2-2-2-
D:----4-------2-2-2-2-
A:--4---------0-0-0-0-
E:--------------------
And then instead of the main riff for E5, you play (listen to the rythem on the record to understand):
Riff 1c:
E5
e:----------------------------------
B:--9-9-9-9-------9-9-9h10p9--------
G:--9-9-9-9-------9-9--------9h11p9-
D:--9-9-9-9-------9-9---------------
A:----------------------------------
E:----------3-2-0-------------------
Play during the verse with the part that Liam sings Riff 1a and Riff 1b.
In the parts where Liam does not sing, play Riff 1c.
During the pre-chorus, play a little blues kinda riff in A5 and E5:
A5 E5
e:--------------------------
B:--------------------------
G:--2-2-2-2-2-2-------------
D:--2-2-4-2-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-
A:--0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-4-2-4-2-
E:--------------0-0-0-0-0-0-
During the chorus you can easily play | E5 | D5 A5 |, also in a blues idea if ya like.
Bridge:
| Cadd9 | B7add11 |
Cadd9
e:--------3-----------0-----
B:----------3-----------0---
G:------0-----0-----2-----2-
D:----2-----------1---------
A:--3-----------2-----------
E:--------------------------
And then go back to the intro.
Outro:
Those are the same chords as during the chorus!
e:--------------------------------------
B:--9-9-9h10-9--------------------------
G:--9-9-9----9-11b(12)-11b(12)r9-9-11-9-
D:--9-9-9h11-9--------------------------
A:--------------------------------------
E:--------------------------------------
The second time, don't make two bends, but just one, and put instead of the second bend e:--9-
That's it, and that's that. Good luck!
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official OASIS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
