Notes...
It is recommeded that you place a capo on first fret.
All fret references are exact, not accounting for the capo (ie
references to first fret are actually played open because of the
capo). This is a simplified standard-tuning version, not exactly
the way Brian and Stefan play it.
=====================================================================
INTRO RIFF (and verse riff)
=====================================================================
Play this riff far from the bridge using middle (or both) pickup(s).
e |----------------------------------------------|
b |----------------------------------------------|
g |----------------------------------------------|
D |----------------------------------------------|
A |-3---4-------6---4-------3---3h4p3------------|
E |-------------------------------------4--------|
=====================================================================
VERSE RIFF
=====================================================================
This is the second guitar. Use back pickup and strum the chords
slowly near the bridge.
e |-4----------------------------------------------------|
b |-4--------------------------9-------------------------|
g |-5--------------------------10------------------------|
D |-6--------------------------10------------------------|
A |-6--------------------------8-------------------------|
E |------------------------------------------------------|
=====================================================================
CHORUS
=====================================================================
There's a second guitar playing equivalent power chords clean in
the background of this riff.
e |-3---------3-3---3-------3---3---|
b |-4---------4-4---4-------4---4---|
g |-5---------5-5---3-------3---3---|
D |-5---------5-5---1-------1---1---|
A |-3---------3-3---1-------1---1---|
E |---------------------------------|
=====================================================================
FUNNY NOTE
=====================================================================
At some point, there's a lead bit....... it's pants. Just dive a
bit and tremolo on the whammy bar. There's a flange effect on it
too. It's just one note, so........... uh, yeah....
e |------------------------------------------
b |------------------------------------------
g |-1-vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv--------------
D |------------------------------------------
A |------------------------------------------
E |------------------------------------------
=====================================================================
INSTRUMENTAL BLOCK (at the end)
=====================================================================
This is a totally perfect tab of the nice instrumental bit at the
end of the song. This riff is repeated several times, and starts
off softly strummed and gets a bit harder. Eventually, there's a
bass line that comes in and is copied on the guitar, but that's up
to you...... it just toys with the chord G#maj and the sustain
notes of chord G#maj etc.
e |-----------------------------------------------------------------|
b |-6---6---6---6---6---6---6---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---9---1---|
g |-6---6---6---6---6---6---6---6---10--10--10--10--10--10--10--1---|
D |-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A |-----------------------------------------------------------------|
E |-----------------------------------------------------------------|
e |-----------------------------------------------------------------|
b |-6---6---6---6---6---8---8---1---4---4---4---4---4---4---4---1---|
g |-6---6---6---6---6---6---6---1---5---5---5---5---5---5---5---1---|

Well that's it for my tab. It's just a simplified version, but it
should help those multi-wotsit bands who cover allsorts of stuff
and are sick of lugging two guitars around in different tunings,
just coz Placebo can't do the honorable thing and use standard.
I can't judge them... I myself regularly use and write songs in
Eb tuning, so.... oh well. Hope this helps you. Email me
any comments, suggestions, requests, etc. Thanks!
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official PLACEBO tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
