E--------------------------------------------|

this is the beginning riff use your third finger for
the last 2 notes just laying it across the neck to
hit the high note 9th fret on the b string this part
is played pretty quickly so just practice it for a
little bit before trying to play it up to speed.

E-----------------------------------7----------|
B--9--------------------------7----------------|
G----9--7~-------------9--7-----9--------------|
D-----------9---7-9-7--------------------------|

this is the even faster riff. this gives you the main
melody but there is another part being played underneath
it but its just be-bop type picking a few notes if you
have 2 guitarist then maybe attempt with the other part
but its really hard to hear it behind this one, and I
really doubt andy played it with the second part live
im pretty sure the guitar behind it is overdubbed. That's
what made this part so tricky to figure out, thank god
my cd player has a repeat section on it where It plays any
section you want over and over or else I probably wouldn't
have figured it out.
==========================================================
E----------------------|
B-----9----------------| this chord is played after the bass repeats
G-----7----------------| the first time just once in the whole song
D-----7----------------| I think
A-----7----------------|
E----------------------|
E-----------7----------|
B---slide/7------------| part is played after the bass repeats
G----------------------| the second time just once in the whole
D----------------------| song.
A----------------------|
E----------------------|
===============================================================
that's all the guitar parts but here is the bass part when
the guitar is not playing I like to play it along with the
bass cause it has a really cool sound to it. play the first
2 parts of it 4 times at the beginning and play it in the
order it is here in most of the song and near the end, play
the second 2 parts 4 times
E----------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------|
D-------------------------------------1-------------1------|
A---0-2---4-----0-2h0h2---4-----2-4-0-----2-4h2h4-0--------|
E-------3---------------3----------------------------------|
Its too bad we can never see the police live again this would
have been a good one to hear, probably kicked ass.
If you have any corrections or fixes or think I have played
a part wrong please feel free to write me an email

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official POLICE tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
