NOTE: Key of G, tune down one half step.
G Am C
Father, thanks for playing with my friends and me.
Am C D Dsus2...
I'm glad they got to meet the man I know.
G Am C
You always knew the words and taught me honesty.
Am C D Dsus2
Picked me up when I was feeling low.
G D Am C
If I could talk to you just one more time,
Am C D Dsus2
I know you'ld work things out just like before.
G Am G C
Where did I go wrong? Can you hear me sing this song?
Am C G
Father I won't see you anymore.
G Am C
Mother, dry your eyes why do you cry those tears.
Am C D Dsus2
You knew someday your baby'd be a man.
G Am C
Letting go is hard when it's forever dear.
Am C D Dsus2
I know it's late but now I understand.
G D Am C
If I could hold you hand just one more time,
Am C D Dsus2
and hear your lullabies just like before.
G Am G Am
I know that I did wrong, so I'm singing you this song.
Am C G
Mother, I won't see you anymore.
G Am C
Son, I wish you knew how much we're missing you.
Am C D Dsus2
I saw them cry their tears from up above.
G Am C
I try to tell them, but the words aren't getting through,
Am C D Dsus2
I didn't mean to hurt the ones I love.
G D Am C
Mother, Father I hope to see you soon,
Am C D
and things will be just like they were before.
G Am G Am
I'm sending all my love, I'm watching from above...
Am C G
and I'll be in your dreams for evermore.
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official SCREAM tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
