SONG: Cumbersome
Well, after listening to Seven-Mary-Three I've pretty much figured out
the basic rythm of the song Cumbersome. It's pretty simple, actually.
It follows a:
F# - E - B
pattern with moderate muting of the strings
F# - 2 4 4 3 2 2
E - 0 2 2 1 0 0
B - 2 2 4 4 4 -
And after he sings, "Oh no, no no no" I believe it's
B - E. Listen to the song and you will get the basic jist of
it. It sounds like a great song to play unplugged.
Since I don't have the album I can't really write the lyrics out.
Have fun.
I've also attempted to determine the bassline, although I don't have the
music with me RIGHT now...Here goes, sort of a walking bassline.
x = mute
G------------------------------------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------2--2--x-x-x--2--2----4--2--------------
A-----------------------------2-4----------------------------5--4--2--2--
E--2--2---x-x-x---2--2----2-4--------------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------
A-x-x-x--2--2---4--2--------------------------
E---------------------5--4--2--2--x-x-x--2----

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official SEVEN MARY THREE tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
