THE COLOR GREEN - "One Step Forward" Tablature
Official THE COLOR GREEN Tablature & Sheet Music »
This isn't exactly accurate to the song -- the original is picked, I'm not that talented-- but it sounds alright.
INTRO: [D] [Am] [Em] [G] (twice)
A [D] troubled young [Am] lady comes [Em] in from the [G] rain
[D] Helpless and [Am] hiding from [Em] some kind of [Cadd9] pain
She [D] don't know the [Am] reason for the [Em] way that she [G] feels
And she [D] don't know the [Am] truth, but she [Em] knows that it's [Cadd9] real
So she [D] throws down her [Am] cards and asks [Em] God to re[G]deal once [Cadd9] more [G]
CHORUS 1:
[D] One step [G] forward and [Cadd9] two steps [A] back
[D] She might be [G] strange, but she [Cadd9] has a [A] knack
[D] She'll lift her [G] arms up [Cadd9] to the [A] sky and say
[D] Oh my [G] God, don't you [Cadd9] let him [A] say goodbye
[INTRO]
A troubled young man comes walking this way
And he's walking so tall, like this is his day
And his boots make him strong; well, that's what he thinks
But he can't disappear in the whiskey he drinks
And the harder he acts, the deeper he sinks again
CHORUS 2:
One step forward and two steps back
He might be strange, but he has a knack
He'll lift his arms up to the sky and say
Oh my God, don't you let her say goodbye
[Solo over intro chords]
CHORUS 3:
One step forward and two steps back
I may be strange, but I have a knack
I'll lift my arms up to the sky and say
Oh my God, it's alright if she says goodbye

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official THE COLOR GREEN tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
