Subject: LIKE COCKATOOS by The Cure
Like Cockatoos
(words & music by Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Laurence Tolhurst, Porl
Thompson, and Boris Williams)
Like many Cure songs, the there is really only one real riff for this song
with other cool stuff added in (like the string orchestrations at the end).
Anyway, the main (and intro) riff are these:
INTRO (4x) MAIN RIFF
E --------------------||-------------|---------|-------------|-----------|
B ---------0----------||-------6-6---|---------|-------------|-----------|
G -------0---0--------||----5--5-5---|-3-3-----|-------------|-----------|
D -----3-------3------||-3--5--3-3---|-3-3-5-5-|--6-6--8-8-8-|-6--5--3-3-|
A ---3-----------3----||-3--3--------|-1-1-5-5-|--6-6--8-8-8-|-6--5--3-3-|
E -1---------------1--||-1-----------|-----3-3-|--4-4--6-6-6-|-4--3--1-1-|
The ever so cool lyrics are:
She walked out of her house
And looked around
At all the gardens that looked back at her house
(Like all the faces that quiz when you smile)
And he was standing at the corner
Where the road turned dark
A part of shiny wet
Like blood the rain fell black down on the street
And kissed his feet she fell
Her head an inch away from heaven
And her face pressed tight
And all around the night sang out like cockatoos
And in her head
A picture of a boy who left her loney in the rain
(And all around the night sang out like cockatoos)
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official THE CURE tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
