ISTANBUL (Not Constantinople) [by Jimmy Kennedy & Nat Simon]
------------------------------------------------------------
[These are the chords I remember from my piano-playing days; ]
[actually, They Might Be Giants' recording of this song is in F#m, ]
[not Am, but do _you_ want to play it in F#m? Not me. If you ]
[must be accurate, transpose this to Em and capo up two frets. ]
[The whole song isn't here, but it should be enough so that you ]
[can figure out the intro and solo yourself. Oh, and the groovy ]
[chord at the end is an Am(#7), which is x02110 or x06554. ]
[Each chord is one measure, except "X - Y" is one measure TOTAL. ]

Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
E7 E7
Been a long time gone, old Constantinople
Am - Dm Dm - Am
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Am Am Am Am
Every gal in Constantinople lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
E7 E7 Am - E7 Am
So if you've a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul
Am Am Am Am
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Bm7-5 E7 Am E7
Why they changed it I can't say, people just liked it better that way
Am Am Am Am
So take me back to Constantinople, no you can't go back to Constantinople
E7 E7 Am Am
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople, why did Constantinople get the works?
E7 Am
That's nobody's business but the Turks

This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
