And it seemed to me A G D
That the sunshine walked beside herShe come from Spencer, across the hill
She said her pa had sent herCause the coal was low And soon the snow
Would turn the skies to winter. She said she'd come to look for work
She was not seekin' favorsFor a dime a day And a place to stay
She turn those hands to laborWell times were hard and, lord, jobs were few
All through Tecumseh Valley But she asked around And a job she found
Tending bar at Gypsy Sally's Well she saved enough to get back home
When spring replaced the winterBut her dreams were denied Her pa had died
The word came down from Spencer. Well she took to walking out in the streets
With all the grief inside her And it was many a man Who returned again
To walk that road beside her. They found her down beneath the stairs
That led to Gypsy Sally's And in her hand when she died Was a note that cried
Fare-thee-well, Tecumseh Valley The name she gave was Caroline
The daughter of a minerAnd her ways were free And it seemed to me
That the sunshine walked beside her
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official TOWNES VAN ZANDT tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
