The Hungry Wolf
by John Doe and Exene Cervenka
"Under the Big Black Sun", Elektra, 1982
"Live at the Whiskey A Go Go On The Fabulous Subset Strip", Elektra, 1988
The main riff is a bottom-string thing that goes like this:
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
B|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
D|-2--2------------------------2--2--------------------------------------------
A|-0--0------------------------0--0--------------------------------------------
E|-------3--0---3--3--0--3--0--------3--0--3--3--0--3--0-----------------------
Or something like that. I don't know how to convey the rhythm, but if you
know the song you'll get it.
(riff) C B
I am a hungry wolf and run endlessly with my mate
B C B C B
I see the gutter fed in the foolish, outrun and kill the strong
D E
At daybreak I run, awake to who follows me
(riff)
I roam, I roam
(riff) C B
I am a hungry wolf, and run endlessly with my mate
C B C B
Welcome to dripping jaws, the altar of your death
D E
At daybreak I run, ready to tear up the world
(riff)
I roam, I roam
(bridge)
E C
The hungry wolf, she stares from the hill
E C B C B
At villagers around the fire
G B
She loves her mate, as he loves her
E (riff)
And they live together for life
(riff) C B
I am a hungry wolf, and I run endlesly with my mate
C B
Look across the street, my friend
C B
We're waiting for you to slow down
D E
At daybreak I roam, eyes in the back of my head
(riff)
I roam, I roam
This musical interpretation has been removed due to a legal threat from Moses & Singer LLP,
representing the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) and
The Music Publisher's Association of the United States (MPA).
Unfortunately, these threats are fueled by greed and being masked by a "copyright infringement." They claim tab sites are
"hurting the songwriters," but it's a known fact that the publishing companies garner most of the
revenue. Instead, they would prefer you to purchase the
official X tablature
which is an option we've always given our users. And due to the highly error-prone nature of tabs on the internet, many choose to go this route.
These companies also do not realize that tablature sites help to promote their artists.
For more information on this onslaught, you can read the
NY Times Article.
We hope one of the larger tablature sites will have the money to fight this. Until then, we urge you all to keep tabbing songs and sharing them in any way you can.
